Established
in 1983 with a Statute [in Italian] and a Rules of Procedures [in Italian].

its Members
are about 400 (individual and collective bodies, plus 4 honorary).

the Board
is formed by 7 councillors: Piero Cavaleri (President), Serena Sangiorgi (Vice-president), Alessandra Cornero, Augusta Franco, Lucia Maffei, Giulio Marconi, Valerie Matarese, 

the Executive committee
is formed by President, Vice-President and Secretary-Treasurer (Domenico I. Bogliolo).
Last election took place on 2007. The elected commettee is in office until 2009. The members of the Board are employed in public bodies as well as in private enterprises. This helps provide a fairly complete view of the various problems of documentation and information in the country.

Publications
of AIDA consist of a regular quarterly AIDAinformazioni, both in print and in e-journal version, of the free newsletter AIDAlampi and of irregular publications of manuals and monographs, proceedings of national conferences, seminars, workshops.

Activities
Working Groups were formed for different purposes and they are intended to last until their study is brought to an end. There are no regional groups.

of AIDA are written in art. 1 of its Statute: the Tasks
of AIDA are listed in its Statute (art. 2): AIDA's interest in international ccoperation is demonstrated by its memership to ECIA (European Council of Information Associations) and by the "Sessione italiana" [Italian Session] which has been held for many years at IOLIM of London and organised by AIDA by bi-lateral contacts with similar associations in Europe like French ADBS, Great Britain ASLIB, etc.
AIDA accepts the ethical code of I&D professionals adopted by ECIA: Ethical Principles for Information and Documentation Professionals and the ECIA Statement on Intellectual Property and Copyright

Activities
for members: AIDA organises at least 3 Seminars a year in different Italian towns. In order to reach the interest of the largest number of real and potential members, the themes are very different each time. AIDA non-members can attend these events.
AIDA organises a national conference every 2 or 3 years. The proceedings are printed.

What we expect
from AIDA: AIDA is concerned with Documentation in its broad meaning. Its ambitions are:

Members' major expectations are related with Professional qualification in the private sector, where information value is underestimated and professional roles unstable.
