Last election took place on 2007. The
elected commettee
is in office until 2009. The members of the Board are employed in
public
bodies as well as in private enterprises. This helps provide a fairly
complete
view of the various problems of documentation and information in the
country.
Publications
of AIDA consist of a regular quarterly AIDAinformazioni,
both in print and in e-journal version, of the free
newsletter AIDAlampi and
of irregular
publications of manuals and monographs, proceedings of national
conferences,
seminars, workshops.
Activities
Working Groups were formed for different
purposes and
they are intended to last until their study is brought to an end. There
are no regional groups.

of AIDA is formed by:

since 1994 AIDA has asked for a contribution
to non-members attending its seminars. They will remain free for
members.

Aims
of AIDA are written in art. 1 of its
Statute:
- to contribute, with other
institutions, to the definition,
knowledge and development of documentation and information science as a
cultural area, peculiar for the exercise and treatment of documentation
and information practice;
- to strenghten the
"documentalist" [information specialist]
profession as an activity of a high specialised content, having as its
object the transformation or reduction of the document into information
units, the creation of documentary languages, information storing,
retrieval
and circulation.

Tasks
of AIDA are listed in its Statute (art. 2):
- to pool at a national and
international level persons and
organisations operating in documentation fields and in the information
management;
- to encourage the granting of
scholarships and of other forms
of financial support from Italian and foreign institutions in order to
develop studies and researches in the fields quoted in art. 1, point 1;
- to collaborate with similar
associations.
AIDA's interest in international
ccoperation is demonstrated
by its memership to ECIA
(European
Council of Information Associations) and by the "Sessione
italiana"
[Italian
Session] which has been held for many years at IOLIM
of London and organised by AIDA by bi-lateral contacts with
similar
associations in Europe like French ADBS, Great Britain ASLIB, etc.
AIDA accepts the ethical code of
I&D professionals
adopted by ECIA:

and the
ECIA
Statement on Intellectual Property and Copyright
Activities
for
members: AIDA organises
at least 3 Seminars a year in different Italian
towns. In order
to reach the interest of the largest number of real and potential
members,
the themes are very different each time. AIDA non-members can attend
these
events.
AIDA organises a national conference every
2 or 3 years.
The proceedings are printed.
What
we expect
from
AIDA: AIDA is concerned
with Documentation in its broad meaning. Its ambitions are:
- to reflect and respect all
various interests, specialised
sectors and applications of Documentation in theory and practice;
- to cover the whole country,
with a special interest in the
South part of Italy where AIDA members are still few;
- to increase the membership,
by providing a wide offer.
Members' major expectations are related
with Professional
qualification in the private sector, where information value is
underestimated
and professional roles unstable.
AIDA's policy has been developed according
to priorities:
- defining differences and
similarities with other national
information associations like AIB [Italian Library
Association]
for librarians in order to widen the field of information activities
and
profession and reinforce the self-esteem of the information
professionals;
- participating in consultancy
activities when required by
Institutional Bodies (like Ministries);
- create a field of common
knowledge about developments in
the field of documentation both of technological lever and
social/juridical/economical
level;
- improving the communication
network (visible college) of
specialists beyond the country bounfaries towards a European dimension
of activity in the field.
